Lynn Allred - Studio Owner / Chief Engineer

With a career in audio spanning four decades, LA-Audio owner and chief engineer Lynn Allred has brought a wealth of experience and musicality to the projects of literally hundreds of artists from all over the world.

Originally a product of Monterey California, Lynn migrated to Kansas City by way of Oklahoma, Florida and then back to southern California where he worked for CBS Records as a utility musician touring with names like, Les Dudek, Mike Finnegan, Jim Kreager, Dave Mason and Kenny Loggins.

After a visit to Great Western Studios in LA and a chance meeting with Roger Nichols, famed engineer for Steely Dan, as well as some words of wisdom from a coffee room encounter with Billy Joel, Lynn was smitten with studio production and the rest as they say, is history. After a short stint at a major studio in south Florida that was bought out by Gloria and Emillio Esteban, in 1986 Lynn returned to Kansas City newly married and with a new job at Sound Recorders (of Manhiem Steamroller fame) learning from the “dude” himself, Jim Schrader.

“LA-Audio began in my basement in 1989,” Lynn remembers. “Those were some adventerous days. I only had one good mic, an eight-track analog machine and a Tascam console but figured out how to get things done,” says Lynn. The client list grew to include Pioneer Lazer Entertainment, ABC Capitol Cities, The TM Comedy Network, Rush Limbaugh and Rusty Humphries. In 1994 Lynn re-opened the old Sound Factory (Shooting Star) in Olathe as Berry Music Group with long-time friend and musical partner, Max Berry. Since then, Lynn has had many collaberations producing some of the best original music to ever come out of Kansas City. CD’s from Tom Hall, Ben Juneau, Mark Montgomery, Lezlie Revelle, The Rain Dogs, Manchild and Edwin Vallejo.
